Suryakumar Yadav names rivals India want to face in T20 World Cup 2026 final
The schedule is announced for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka at an event. It was attended by Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Suryakumar Yadav, apart from the ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta and the Chairman Jay Shah as well. At the event, India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was asked about the opponents he would like to face in the final of the mega event, and he had no hesitation in naming Australia.
Notably, Australia broke millions of hearts on November 19 at the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, beating India in the final with Travis Head smashing a match-winning century. The same venue is scheduled to host the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 (unless Pakistan make it to the final) and Surya clearly wants to avenge the ODI World Cup final defeat.
Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper, had silenced the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as his team stunned the jam-packed ground filled with Indian fans in the final of the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma named T20 World Cup 2026 ambassador
ICC Chairman Jay Shah had a surprise in store for the Indian fans at the event as he announced Rohit Sharma as the brand ambassador of the T20 World Cup. Reacting to the appointment, Rohit expressed his delight that the mega event was returning to India after 10 years and wished 20 participating teams all the luck for the tournament.
"It is great to have the tournament back in India and for me to be associated once again with the tournament, this time in a new capacity as the Brand Ambassador. I wish all the players the very best and hope they have a memorable time and enjoy India’s hospitality while taking back a lot of memories," Rohit said.
